Why Not Stay With Us While You Study At ETHOS?

As mentioned in our other pages, we offer housing to any ETHOS student who needs it. We have a DORMITORY apartment option, and a HOME STAY option. Of course, we do not require our students to stay in our housing and so students are welcome to stay wherever they want in the city.

ETHOS housing includes two room-type options: SHARED room and PRIVATE room. We prioritize booking SHARED rooms, but we do also offer a PRIVATE room housing option. PRIVATE rooms cost twice as much as SHARED rooms and we only have a few of them. Once all private rooms are booked, only the SHARED housing option will remain.

Please understand that all ETHOS housing is reserved and booked on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Ok, let's take a closer look at housing options.

1. DORMITORY:

Staying in one of our DORMITORY apartments is the least expensive housing option at ETHOS. Students are given a bedspace in a shared room. Males and females might be housed in the same apartment, but they will be in separate rooms. Male and female students sharing a dormitory should interact socially in the common areas of the apartment.

These items ARE included in the DORMITORY housing price:

• Free Wi-Fi.
• Air Conditioning.
• Rooms cleaned twice a week.
• Bedding and towels provided.
• Towels and bedding changed once a week.
• Hot water heater in the bathroom.
• Hair dryer.
• TV with Netflix (limited).
• Toilet tissue in the bathroom.
• Back-up water system.
• Purified drinking water.
• Complete kitchen. (There are two large supermarkets nearby.)
• Large refrigerator.
• Free water and electricity.

These items ARE NOT included in the DORMITORY housing price:

• Laundry service.
• Medical expenses.
• Groceries for meals.
• Personal care items.
• Snacks and drinks.

2. HOME STAY:

The HOME STAY option is our most popular. Students stay in the home of one of our American teachers. This allows the student to live in an English-only environment during their time at ETHOS. Most of our American families have children who are very friendly toward visitors. Some families have pets (mostly dogs or cats), so PLEASE consider this before you choose this option if you have any allergies to animals.

These items ARE included in the HOME STAY housing price:

• Free Wi-Fi.
• Air Conditioning.
• Rooms cleaned twice a week.
• Bedding and towels provided.
• Towels and bedding changed once a week.
• Hot water heater in the bathroom.
• Hair dryer.
• Toilet tissue in the bathroom.
• Back-up water system.
• Purified drinking water.
• Free water and electricity.
• Free breakfast on school days.

These items ARE NOT included in the HOME STAY housing price:

• Lunch, dinner, and breakfast on weekends and holidays.
• No cooking in the house. (But Home Stay students may cook in the Dormitory.)
• Laundry service.
• Medical expenses.
• Personal care items.
• Snacks and drinks.

What About MEALS?

Unfortunately, ETHOS does not have a cafeteria. All students will need to provide their own meals. Here are some things to consider:

• Only Home Stay students have free breakfast on school days.
• All students may cook meals in the dormitory kitchens.
• We have two large supermarkets one block from the school.
• We have a McDonald’s and a Jollibee one block from the school.
• Several smaller local Filipino restaurants are located near ETHOS.
• The SM Seaside mall is 5 minutes away by taxi.
• There is a catered lunch option on school days.

Other Considerations:

Students who stay in outside housing only pay tuition for the classes. However, it will be the responsibility of the student to be at the school on time for the start of classes each school day at 9:00 AM. Therefore, it is important for students staying outside to leave for school with plenty of time to make the trip and arrive on time. (Please note that ETHOS opens its doors at 8:30 AM each school day.)

An Important Note About Our Water Supply:

ETHOS gets its water supply from the city water system, and that service is not reliable. To solve this problem, each ETHOS housing unit has an outside water storage tank with a limited quantity of water. To make certain that everyone has water for a shower, we ask our students to please agree to the following:

• Shower only one time each day, either morning or evening.
• Limit shower time to 15 minutes per person.

We Have A Few Additional Things to Consider:

To maintain our company's good reputation, we have some very basic common-sense requirements for anyone living in our housing facilities. Please keep in mind that ETHOS is not a resort or a hotel. We supply inexpensive housing that is clean and well maintained in order to provide a safe and quiet place for our students to live and study while they are with us. To maintain a good home environment, we ask all students to agree to the following:

• Students must treat all ETHOS staff and students with respect.
• Respect one another’s property and privacy.
• If you break something, you will repair or replace it.
• Anyone found in possession of or using illegal drugs will be immediately expelled.
• Smoking is only permitted outside of ETHOS school and housinig facilities.
• Alcohol consumption is only allowed outside of ETHOS school and housiong facilities.
• Any student who comes to any ETHOS facility intoxicated will not be allowed inside.
• Outside visitors are not allowed in ETHOS housing facilities.
• Students should be home by midnight on school nights. (Sunday through Thursday)
• Those who plan to stay on weekends should inform us where they will be.
• Only married couples, parents and kids, or siblings may stay in the same rooms.
• Same-sex couples must stay in separate rooms.
• Male students are not allowed in the rooms of the females.
• Female students are not allowed in the rooms of the males.
