FAMILY Study Program with American Teachers!

Are you a parent wanting to bring your children to the Philippines to study English? At ETHOS English School we have American teachers and several study and housing options for you to consider. We focus upon helping students learn good pronunciation, conversation skills, sentence structure, vocabulary, reading, and writing American English!

ETHOS Is "Family Friendly!"

At ETHOS, we accept parents studying with their children. Our classes are taught Mondays through Fridays. Parents can choose between our 4-hour-per-day and 5-hour-per-day study options, and each hour has a different subject.

Our 4-hour program, includes American Pronunciation, Grammar, Conversation, and Reading. The 5-hour program includes the same subjects plus Writing.

We are a family business and we have many American grandchildren. We will create as many opportunities as possible for your children to spend time with our grandchildren. (If you choose our Home Stay housing option, you and your children can live in one of the homes of our children and grandchildren! No other school in the Philippines offers this option!)

THREE Programs In One!

Our family program has different study plans for the different age groups of family members.

Parents and children 10 years and older are placed in our regular GROUP CLASS program. They will enter a group that has the same entry level, based upon the results of our assessment. These classes will be taught by our American native-speaker teachers.
Children between the ages of 6 to 9 years old will be in our "50/50" program. These are GROUP CLASSES in which one half of each class period will have an English lesson. The second half of the period will be games and activities, in English, that use and apply the material from the lesson of the day. (Note: These classes may be taught by one of our Filipino staff.)
Children 5 years and below will be placed in our Day Care program. One of our Filipino staff will watch the kids while the parents and older siblings are in class. Activities will include games and videos conducted in English.

ETHOS does not accept families for which the parents will not be enrolled in classes with their children.
As an extra service, parents of the family study program can also pay extra for babysitting their children, after school and during office hours, so they can go out by themselves for shopping or other activities. Rates will depend upon the number of children being watched and the number of hours the parents will be out.
Parents need to remember that they are bringing their kids to ETHOS to take advantage of our American English training and allow our native speakers to spend as much time as possible with their kids. The kids need to have plenty of time to accomplish their English lessons and homework, and to spend time practicing and speaking English. Therefore, parents should refrain from having their kids bring a lot of other school work from home with them when they come to ETHOS. Unless we have the complete access to the kids, the benefit from their time with us will be minimal. (This is especially important for parents who only bring their kids to us for one or two weeks!)
In addition, we ask parents to make certain that the kids get plenty of sleep each night and are ready to start fresh each class day at 9:00 AM. A well-rested and alert child will get much more benefit from our training than a sleepy one!

VERY IMPORTANT: We do not have classes on REGULAR HOLIDAYS, for which the Philippine government requires all businesses to close for the day. The school will be closed and those days will be skipped in the school calendar. No classes will be scheduled and there will be no make-up classes for those dates because no lessons will be missed. How Much Will It Cost?

Your cost will depend upon whether you need housing. ETHOS provides two housing options: HOME STAY and DORMITORY. Of course, we also allow students to stay anywhere they want. Please check out our HOUSING page for the details.
